You can start playing Atomic Heart tomorrow. The expected event, which has been compared to BioShock, Doom or Half-Life since its unveiling. According to Peter, this is all true, the game looks great, creates a fantastic atmosphere and draws you in, especially thanks to the story. The action is also solid, mainly in the more advanced phase, when you have already unlocked better weapons or their improvements and you can start to express yourself fully. The change of pace and the varied content of the main and side missions, which you can dose as you like after the approximately 6-hour introduction, are also pleasant.
However, the developers from the Mundfish studio did not succeed in everything, we see the biggest difficulties in the very difficult control – we played on PlayStation 5, also in the not very clear navigation across the game world and the game is not spared from many visual glitches and a number of little things, merging into a larger unpleasant whole. Still, the title has a lot of potential, and we can imagine that when the first patches are released and the developers catch all the bugs that they didn’t manage to solve before the release, Atomic Heart will be even better.
- Sensational, original and never-before-seen rendering of a dystopian world
- Great story, characters and their native dubbing
- At the right moments, the action is really juicy and fun
- Dosing the right ratio of action and puzzles in the main and side activities + Level design and lots of hidden corners in the main map
- Excellent movies and sharp soundtrack
- Clumsy, cumbersome and imprecise controls
- Visible visual issues with animations and collisions
- World exploration is very annoying at first due to the omnipresent enemies
- Partly problematic world navigation and general lack of guidance
Atomic Heart is a shining example of how well the final product can live up to the unrealistic expectations set by the first performance. The creators have created a unique world with a great story and styling, in graphics that even surpass the original designs. Unfortunately, the excellent impression of action and puzzle solving is marred by a number of noticeable problems at the level of graphics, scripting or controls. However, if you can get through them, you will get an experience that is close to the mythical BioShock.
