According to the Association of Skiers, their appetite has not diminished and this year 77 percent of them are planning to visit the Czech mountains. The number of people who want to spend more time in the mountains, including extended weekends and week-long stays, has increased by 60 percent.
People perceive that Czech ski resorts want to offer their visitors perfect services. This was confirmed by a survey conducted this year, in which half of the respondents who decided to go to the mountains agreed that the technical equipment is comparable to foreign resorts, said Kateřina Neumannová, the president of the Association of Skiers.
Ski resorts have invested over one billion Czech crowns before the upcoming season, with the majority going towards the development of ski slopes, services, and sustainable technologies. Significant investments have been made not only in the snowmaking system and grooming machines but also in snow storage, expanding the use of modern SNOWSAT technology, according to Libor Knot, the director of the Association of Skiers.
Thanks to new operating buildings, investments in improving the infrastructure of accompanying services, and expanding the portfolio of services, visitors can expect better quality services. The digitization of systems continues, especially in the area of online ski pass sales and equipment rental reservations.
Among the new features in the Czech mountains this year are the construction of several ski slopes and two cable cars. Two new ski slopes have been built in Špindlerův Mlýn, which will form the basis of the planned connection between Sv. Petr and Medvědín.
“The ski slope has a beautiful profile and skiing on it will be fantastic, even though it won’t be open this year. About halfway along the trail, skiers will connect to the existing hiking trail, which we have modified so that everyone from the Pec pod Sněžkou ski slopes can easily get back to the lower station of the Hromovka cable car. This will create a new trail over 1,500 meters long,” said René Hrone, the director of the Špindlerův Mlýn Ski Resort.
Dolní Morava will offer the longest ski slope this year, measuring 3.7 kilometers. In the Beskydy Mountains, a new six-seater chairlift with heating and bubbles will be put into operation on Mount Lysá hora, replacing the existing four-seater chairlift. In the Orlické Mountains, a four-seater chairlift with a length of 1,400 meters will be put into operation.
“According to Neumannová, ski pass prices will remain more or less the same as last year. Two-thirds of the resorts have kept last year’s prices, while the rest have adjusted their prices up or down by a few percentage points, ranging from minus four to two percent,” said the president of the Association of Skiers.
This year, most ski resorts will also offer floating ski pass prices and discounted online purchases. Early purchase of ski passes can save skiers several hundred crowns, and resorts can regulate the number of skiers on the slopes, added Libor Knot.
