Conflict Russia and Ukraine which led to the invasion starting Thursday (24/2) has not yet been completed. Hundreds of Ukrainians are said to have been victims in the war.
Support and sympathy for Ukraine continues to be intensified from various countries for the attacks carried out by Russia against the country.
Here is a summary of the events of the last 12 hours related to the Ukrainian and Russian wars.
1. Two-State Dialogue in Belarus
Today, Monday (28/2) local time Russia and Ukraine are scheduled to hold a meeting to have a dialogue about the war taking place in Ukraine.
The meeting will take place on the Belarusian border. Previously, Ukraine had refused to hold a dialogue in Belarus.
The agreement came after talks between Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two agreed to a meeting without preconditions at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border near the Pripyat River.
2. Putin Alerts Russia’s Nuclear Defenses
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his country’s “deterrence forces” to be put on alert. This defense includes the state’s nuclear arsenal in connection with the war in Ukraine.
3. Putin accuses the West of not being friendly
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the West of being unfriendly. For this, Putin even ordered his defense chiefs to alert nuclear deterrence forces and weapons.
Russia does have the world’s largest arsenal of nuclear weapons and a number of ballistic missiles that form the backbone of deterrence forces.
4. Russia is running out of gas
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which has claimed more than 100 lives is colored by unique events. A Russian combat vehicle has become the subject of ridicule by Ukrainian citizens for running out of gas.
The incident began when a Russian combat vehicle broke down on a road in the Sumy region, northeastern Ukraine.
5. Germany sends arms supplies to Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that he would help Ukraine and send supplies of weapons to fight Russia on Saturday (26/2).
The German government is rumored to be sending 1,000 anti-tank guns and 500 stinger missiles to Ukraine.
6. Explosion in Ukraine
A series of explosions were reported in Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion of the country. One of the explosions observed came from a natural gas pipeline in Kharkiv.
On Sunday (27/2), Ukraine’s Special Communications and Information Protection Service said a Russian fighter fleet detonated a natural gas pipeline in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.
