Météo France announces at 10 p.m. that storm vigilance has been lifted for the departments of Saône-et-Loire, Côte d’Or, Haute-Marne and Meuse, as well as for all departments in Rhône-Alpes except Drome and Isère. The east of the country, from Jura to Bas Rhin, also remains under orange storm alert which still covers a total of 11 departments.
Thunderstorms, sometimes quite strong, have just circulated from eastern Burgundy to Franche-Comté and are rapidly moving towards eastern Lorraine and Alsace. Locally these storms produce marked electrical activity, hailstorms and rainfall accumulations of 10 to 20mm in a very short time (less than 30min). A few showers and isolated stormy foci affected northern Lorraine but without any particular virulence.
Further south, intense rainfall was observed mainly in the south of the Loire, Haute-Loire, Ardèche and Drome, sometimes up to 100mm in 2 (with 92.9mm in Pilat), from the big hail (hailstones 5 cm in diameter reported at Monistrol sur Loire) and gusts of around 90 km/h (91.4 km/h at the Albon station).
