A 74-year-old man was launched this Tuesday onto the subway rails in the Upper East Sidein Manhattan, while waiting for a train, the New York Police Department reported.
Authorities said a man who was found screaming at the 68 Street-Hunter College station, pushed the victim for no apparent reasonreviewed Daily News.
The police indicated that the subject ran away after committing the incident, at approximately 12:15, and has not been captured still.
An electrician hired by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, who was working on the site at the time, rescued him and relocated him to the platform.
Although the man suffered some injuries to his hands and was complaining of pain, the situation did not become more serious.
When the officers finally arrived at the station, the elderly man was already located on the platform, so they transferred him to Weill Cornell Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
Another man thrown onto the rails
This is the second event of this type to occur in the MTA system in just one week. In recent days, A 30-year-old man was thrown onto the rails during a robbery at the Grant Avenue station in Brooklyn’s Cypress Hills neighborhood.
The man was sitting on a station bench at 4:15 a.m. a week ago when a robber tried to take away his wallet and cell phone, but the victim resisted and a struggle ensued.
In the midst of this situation, the stranger was able to push him onto the train tracks.
Other people who were at the station helped the young man onto the platform and authorities took him to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in good health.
The guy who pushed him onto the train tracks escaped.
