Four Saudi soldiers were killed in a battle in the mountainous Jazan province on the border with Yemen. The death of the military was the first case of military clashes since a preliminary truce with the Houthis was reached in April last year. Before this escalation, both sides were on the verge of a peace agreement.
The clashes on the Yemen-Saudi Arabia border followed the Houthis’ launch of cruise missiles and drones into Israel on October 19, which the Pentagon said were intercepted by a US destroyer in the Red Sea.
According to the publication’s sources, one of these missiles was also intercepted by Saudi air defense systems and fell into the country. The US and Saudi Arabia have not previously said Saudi Arabia was involved in preventing the attack.
Hamas invasion of Israel
