JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Ngabila Salama, said the new case monkey pox which was detected on Thursday (19/10/2023) is not related to the previous case.
FYI, case monkeypox in DKI Jakarta was previously detected on October 12 2023.
Apart from that, there was also one case of monkey pox that was discovered last year, but the patient has since recovered.
“Third case monkeypox “(which was detected on October 19) is a separate case, not a close contact of the second case (on October 12),” Ngabila told reporters, Friday (20/10/2023).

Currently, the two monkey pox patients in Jakarta are being isolated to stop transmission.
According to Ngabila, the two residents who were exposed to monkey pox this year had no history of traveling abroad.
“None of the close contacts of the two new positive cases have symptoms. We only monitor developments every day. As soon as there are symptoms, they are immediately examined by the laboratory,” said Ngabila.
Previously, the Health Department confirmed that there were new findings of residents exposed to monkey pox.
Ngabila said that a Jakarta resident was detected to have been exposed to monkey pox on October 19 2023. The resident was male.
“Add one positive case monkeypox “or monkey pox was only diagnosed last Thursday, October 19,” said Ngabila.
