Recent Attacks on Moscow’s Business District: Comparisons to 9/11 and Growing Drone Threats

Zakharova said that the recent attacks on Moscow’s business district repeat the “methodology” of the world’s biggest terrorist attacks.

“Let’s look at another example – 9/11 and the Twin Towers. Huge number of victims, but the methodology is the same. “Moscow City” is a civilian facility with not only offices, but also residential premises, as well as civilian office premises, which have no connection with the army. This is the same story we see repeating itself,” Zakharova said.

Meanwhile, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said the Kremlin “sees no analogy” between the Ukrainian drone strikes in Moscow and 9/11.

When asked if additional security measures were being implemented in Moscow, Peskov said: “It is true that there is a danger, it is self-evident, and measures are being taken.”

We already reported that in Moscow on Tuesday night a drone strike again caused damage to a high-rise building in the “Moscow City” business district, announced the mayor of the Russian capital Sergey Sobyanin. The mayor stated that this building, which is called “IQ-kvartal” and houses three ministries, was also damaged on Sunday night, when drones damaged two “Moscow City” buildings.

On the night of Sunday, a drone strike damaged the floor where the Ministry of Digital Development is located, and on the night of Tuesday, the floor where the Ministry of Economic Development is located was destroyed.

Drone attacks in Russia are not uncommon in recent months. Ukraine has not directly claimed responsibility, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on Sunday that the war was gradually returning to Russian territory and stressed that it was an inevitable and just process.
