Receives the AU certification of Veterinary Medicine and International Zootechnics by COPEVET

Zacatecas, Zac.- Rector Antonio Guzmán Fernández received international accreditation for the undergraduate program of the Academic Unit of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of our House of Maximum Studies, by the Pan-American Council for Veterinary Science Education (COPEVET).

During the reception of the international certification, the rector Antonio Guzmán Fernández highlighted the work of the management and the teaching and student community, committed to the development of educational quality both at the national level and, in this case, at the international level of the institution .

Guzmán Fernández congratulated the leadership and the university community in general, because despite the obstacles, the academic work and the activities to reach the evaluation did not stop and today the result is highly satisfactory because the educational quality is strengthened.

The formal delivery of the international certification was carried out by Dr. Alberto Arres Rangel, president of the Pan American Council for Veterinary Education (COPEVET), within the framework of the CLXVI Ordinary Meeting of the Mexican Association of Schools and Faculties of Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine, AC (AMEFMVZ) carried out in the facilities of the aforementioned Academic Unit, where it had the characteristic of semi-presence and during its development the appropriate sanitary filters were established, as well as the strict hygiene measures recommended by the sanitary authorities for the protection and prevention of Covid-19 pandemic.

The aforementioned assembly had the physical visit of the members of the AMEFMVZ management in the Academic Unit of Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine and with the online support of the other directors of the schools and colleges of veterinary and zootechnical medicine in the country, as well as members of the assembly through digital platforms, and special guests from the main national and international certification bodies in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics.

It is worth mentioning that in the event the medal “Quetzalcóatl Dorado” was awarded for the first time to six research professors from the different regions defined by ANUIES, a medal personally received by Dr. Juan José Zarate Ramos from UANL.

Dr. Marco Antonio López Carlos, director of the Academic Unit of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the UAZ, welcomed the members of the AMEFMVZ board of directors composed of its president, Dr. Jaime Eleazar Borbolla Ibarra, of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa ; Vice President Dr. Gustavo Moreno, from the Degollado Autonomous University of Nuevo León; Secretary MC Alan Olazábal Feochio, of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and of the State University of Mexico.

Special guests were also present: MVZ José de Jesús Palafox Uribe (president of the Federation of Faculties and Associations of Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine, FedMVZ), Dr. Alberto Arres Rangel, president of the Pan American Council for Veterinary Science Education, COPEVET; Dr. José Antonio Luna Delgado, president of the National Council of Education National Council of Education in Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine, AC, (CONEVET); MVZ. José Antonio Horta Gómez, manager of the National Council of Education National Council of Education in Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine, AC, (CONEVET); and Dr. Juan José Zarate Ramos, vice president of the National Council for Certification in Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine, AC, (CONCERVET), as well as Dr. José Manuel Silva Ramos, Coordinator of the Agricultural Area of ​​the UAZ.

During the meeting, the president Dr. Jaime Eleazar Borbolla Ibarra and the treasurer of AMEFMVZ, Dr. Marco Antonio López Carlos, made the respective exit report, culminating in their management at the head of this important national association.

At the end of the day, an extraordinary meeting of the Mexican Association of Schools and Faculties of Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine, AC, was held for the election of a new board of directors, of which Dr. Gustavo Moreno Degollado, of the Faculty, was elected president. Veterinary and Zootechnical Medicine of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León.
