Chief of Police Poland Jaroslaw Szymczyk was rushed to hospital on Thursday (12/15) local time after a gift he received from a senior official Ukraine, explode! Now he is hospitalized with minor injuries.
The Polish government has also asked Ukraine to provide an explanation for this incident.
“Yesterday at 07.50 there was an explosion in a room next to the police chief’s office,” the Polish Interior Ministry said in a statement. AFP extensionFriday (16/12/2022).
“One of the gifts the police chief received during his working visit to Ukraine on December 11 and 12 exploded,” the ministry added.
Earlier during the visit, Szymczyk met with Ukraine’s police chief and heads of the country’s emergency services. “The award was a gift from one of the Ukrainian service chiefs,” said the Polish Interior Ministry.
The ministry described the police chief’s injuries as “minor” and said he remained in hospital under observation.
A civilian employee of the Polish police headquarters also sustained minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
“The Polish side has asked the Ukrainian side to provide an explanation,” the ministry added.
Previously, a born surat exploded at the embassy Ukraine in Madrid, Spain on Wednesday (12/30) local time. One employee was slightly injured in the blast.
