Started Monday 1 February 2021 the receipt lottery. You may have heard it … But what exactly is it? For those who have not understood, it is one new free lottery linked to the Italia Cashless program developed by the Government to encourage the use of credit cards, debit cards and apps connected to payment circuits with the idea of modernizing the country and promoting the development of a more digital, fast, simple and transparent system.
The advantage of the receipt lottery is that it can make us win something, and it costs nothing, because it is connected to normal cashless purchases, ie made without cash, using electronic payment tools.
How to participate in the receipt lottery
How do you participate? It’s simple: just be adult and resident in Italy, get in official site in the “Participate now” section the so-called lottery code simply by entering your tax code, saving it on your phone and showing it to the shopkeeper every time we are about to make a purchase with electronic payments.
After this, our electronic receipt will actually give us virtual tickets to participate in the lottery receipts.
How much are the tickets worth
How many? A virtual ticket for every euro spent. Not only that: if the amount spent is greater than one euro, any decimal figure greater than 49 cents will produce another virtual ticket.
For example: if we spend 10 euros we will have 10 virtual tickets, if we spend 45 we will have 45 virtual tickets and so on, up to a maximum of 1,000 virtual tickets for each receipt of an amount equal to or greater than 1,000 euros. 10 receipts can therefore give us up to 10 thousand virtual tickets, 100 receipts up to 100 thousand virtual tickets and so on.
What is the lottery code, what is it for and how to get it
But let’s try to better understand what the lottery code. From 1 December 2020 the “Enter Now” section on the official receipt lottery website where you can enter your tax code and view the lottery code.
It is a alphanumeric code and bar code required to participate. Once you have obtained the lottery code, it is useful to print it and save it on your smartphone to then show it at the time of contactless purchase.
The lottery code is uniquely combined with the tax code and, once linked to the receipts, it will produce virtual lottery tickets.
Warning: many wonder if this does not risk violating privacy. The answer is no: the use of the lottery code does not allow the tracking of our purchases. The lottery system only receives data regarding the amount spent, the method of payment (cash or electronic) and the lottery code, while no other descriptive data of your purchase (type of good or service purchased) arrives. Neither the merchant nor others will therefore ever be able to trace back to us for profiling or analysis of our spending habits.
If you lose or forget the lottery code, you can possibly view it in your private area or, alternatively, obtain another one, by accessing the “Participate now” section of the site again. If you find the first lottery code obtained, you can still use it as an alternative to the new one.
