As many know by now, last February 1st the Receipt lottery, the new free lottery connected to the Italian Government Cashless program to encourage the use of credit cards, debit cards and apps (but not all purchases are valid, who find the list of those excluded).
The Receipt Lottery (who all the info to understand what it is and how to participate) is completely free because it is connected to ours normal cashless purchases, that is, purchases made without cash, using electronic payment tools. Our cashless purchases produce “virtual tickets” (one virtual ticket for each euro spent, up to a maximum of 1,000 virtual tickets for each receipt of an amount equal to or greater than 1,000 euro).
The merchant, when he collects the amount and issues the receipt (commercial document, not fiscal), has theobligation to transmit the related data for tax purposes to the Revenue Agency. The same data, if combined with the lottery code buyer, are forwarded to the new lottery system and automatically allow participation in the lottery.
The monthly draws
You win if the virtual ticket generated by your lottery code is drawn. But how many and when are the draws?
When fully operational, the following will be carried out:
- weekly draws with 15 prizes of 25 thousand euros for buyers and 15 prizes of 5 thousand euros for exhibitors
- monthly draws with 10 prizes of 100 thousand euros for buyers and 10 prizes of 20 thousand euros for exhibitors
- annual draw with a premium of 5 million euros for the buyer and a premium of 1 million for the merchant.
Thursday 11 March monthly draws kicking off cashless purchases in February. The first weekly draws of 2021 will be held in June and the first annual draw will be held at the beginning of 2022, which will reward one of the cashless purchases made from 1st February to 31st December 2021.
The monthly draws will be made every second Thursday of the month, for receipts sent and registered by the lottery system by 11:59 pm on the last day of the previous month (if the second Thursday of the month coincides with a national holiday, the drawing is postponed to the first following working day).

The weekly draws
Thursday 10 June 2021 the first weekly draws of 2021 among all the fees transmitted and registered by the lottery system from May 31, 2021 to June 6, 2021 by 11:59 pm.
As of that date, every Thursday weekly drawings will be carried out for all receipts transmitted and registered by the lottery system from Monday to Sunday, until 11.59 pm, of the previous week (if the drawing day coincides with a national holiday, the drawing is postponed to the first day next working day).
Instead, we still have to wait a bit to know the date of the annual draw, which will be decided by the director general of the Customs and Monopolies Agency.
