The Vikings return to Kattegat and learn that Sigi died saving Ragnar’s sons. Ragnar is confused as to why Aslauga did not look after the children. Helga tells Floki about a traveler named Harbard who had come and seduced Aslaug. A messenger arrives and announces that Calf has seized power in Lagertha’s settlement. Lagertha asks Ragranar for help to retrieve it. Meanwhile, the new Viking settlement comes under attack, but King Ecbert is determined to keep the peace and sends Æthelwolf to protect the Northmen, but Æthelwolf has something else in mind. Ragnar goes to talk to Kalf, but decides not to help Lagertha, instead inviting Kalf to join the attack on Paris. Floki reveals to Ragnar that his wife slept with Harbard, who is actually none other than Odin himself.
