The 40th Anglet City Tennis Open ended, in the presence of Jean-Yves Maysonnave, President of the Departmental Tennis Committee, with two superb Women’s and Men’s finals. The first, opposed the Argentine from Périgord Luisina Giovannini to Mallaurie Noël (Carquefou) and was played in two winning sets (6/4, 6/3) for Luisina.
The men’s final, with a knife, pitted Biarritz Olympique licensee Paul Inchauspé, 19, ranked 86th French player, against Louis Dussin, 87th, from Primrose. If Biarrot on this fast court pocketed the first set 6/3, he was surprised in the second on the score of 5/7 before bringing out the big game in the third of a 6/1 without appeal against this opponent who had shone, two years ago in this Open.
During the award ceremony, in the presence of the sports assistant Jean-Louis Bourricaud, President Echeverria, was pleased, first of all, with the good weather conditions which accompanied this edition which also remains faithful to the conviviality of its “after parties” and the rigor of its schedule supervised by the referee Eugène Ramos.
More courts
Just as he appreciated the number of participants for the Men, 782 against 650 last summer and 125 for the Women against 70 in 2022. This Open, which records an equal number of regional and visitors from many clubs in France, highlighted the ancestry of Biarritz Olympique with four of its representatives in the quarter-finals. One of them, Pierre Mouesca, who is one of these rising stars, is the son of Colette Mouesca, the deputy mayor of Anglet, who is also present at this final.
Finally, to conclude, President Echeverria reminded elected officials of the growing number of club licensees and the need for additional covered courts. Jean-Louis Bourricaud did not get wet on this recurring subject but highlighted the complete and very recent renovation of the two upper courts and the same project for two others.
