Recap of the Butagaz Energie League: Metz and Brest Dominate, Nantes Marks its Territory, Paris and Plan de Cuques Continue their Winning Streaks

Tamara Horacek (Neptunes de Nantes)

Yesterday, the fifth day of the Butagaz Energie League took place. While Metz traveled to Chambray, Brest hosted Strasbourg ATH, and both were full of confidence before relaunching in the Champions League. Nantes and Paris follow suit and place themselves in ambush.

Metz and Brest unfold

At La Fontaine Blanche, in Touraine, we expected a close match between the leader of LBE and the ambitious Chambraisiennes. The Tourangelles unfortunately suffered the same fate as all the LBE teams for two years against the Messines with a defeat 22-36. After a good start to the match, a layered defense, the players of Mathieu Lanfranchi lacked realism, deprived of their captain Jovana Stoiljkovicinjured, and Manon Houette, sick but in the stands. The physical fight was won by the Messines, intractable in defense and on the Conquerantes’ ball losses. Agathe Quiniou allowed us not to sink with 10 saves but far from the 23 saves of the international goalkeeper, Camille Sinceet, who played the entire match. Note the new performance of Chloe Valentini with 8 goals and those, on the Tourangeaux side, of Lucie Modenel who is gaining more and more confidence in the lead and the young Léonie Ebara on his wing.

Brest received Strasbourg ATHafter another defeat in the Champions League against Odense, and largely beat the promoted 39-15, in a match where the Alsatians were unable to express themselves. The Brestoises are moving forward again before joining Germany to face Bietigheim.

Nantes marks its territory in Dijon, Besançon relaunches

THE Neptunes of Nantes received the JDA, defeat in the first leg of qualifying for the European League. As fate would have it, if Dijon qualifies, the last round before the group stages will be played against Nantes. Helle Thomsen’s players were keen to make an impression in Burgundy, and dominated the JDA in all areas of the game, achieving a clear victory. 36-22. Tamara Horacek once again led her teammates with an 8 out of 9.

Besançon was moving to Nice, prolific attack at the start of the championship. Once again, the Niçoises scored 30 goals, including 12 unstoppable goals Ehsan Abdelmalek, but it was not enough to beat the Bisontines who opened their away victory counter. Final score 30-35.

Paris and Plan de Cuques continue

For his part, Paris continues with his fourth victory in a row, against Toulon (23-30), and placed himself on the third step of the podium. Except for its inaugural defeat against the ogre Metz, Paris 92 assumes its status as an outsider and returns to the level of Nantes.

Plan de Cuques continues its good start to the championship with another victory 29-25 in front of Saint-Amand. Fifth in the championship, the players ofAngelique Spincer continue before their trip to Besançon. In the bottom match, Mérignac takes valuable points against a direct competitor, Stella Saint-Maurby imposing 23-29. Léa Lignières et Nele Antonissenauthors of 7 goals each, led the Bordelaises to their first success.

The next day of the championship will take place on Wednesday October 4 with a new clash between Paris 92 and the BBH.
