Two weeks ago, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) announced a recall or recall of the Honda PCX and ADV 160 units from consumers. They explained that the recall was announced after a problem was found in the CVT component, namely the driven pulley assembly. So, what about the fate of the Honda Vario 160?
For the uninitiated, the Honda Vario 160 uses the same engine as the Honda PCX and the ADV 160. That’s why the announcement of the recall was asked by several motorcycle users on various social media forums.
PT AHM technical assistance division, confirmed Endro Sutarno, the recall of Honda PCX and ADV 160 has not extended to the Honda Vario 160. Because, even if the engine is the same, both use different CVT components.

“So the Honda Vario 160 has a different driven pulley. The PCX and the ADV 160 are the same. Well, the point is, even though the engine is the same, there is a difference in the CVT,” he said. Endro when he met reporters in Cikarang, West Java, recently this.
Reflecting on this fact, the Honda Vario 160 is safe from the problem of the driven pulley assembly. He also mentioned that ADV and PCX 160 users who had received a call from AHM immediately took their vehicle to the nearest AHASS repair shop.
“We have to check the motor pulleys again (ADV and PCX 160), we will replace them. Consumers who receive the invitations can bring their vehicles closer to AHASS,” he said.

Not all Honda ADV and PCX 160 will be recalled
Earlier, in a widely circulated social media upload, AHM sent out a notification letter to consumers why there was a problem with the group driven pulley component on the Honda PCX and ADV 160.
AHM explained, there was an uneven thickness of the parts due to an imperfect manufacturing process. I’m afraid that if left on for too long, noise will appear in the CVT area and can result in reduced performance in that section.
AHM’s Senior Manager of Corporate Communication, Rina Listiani, confirmed that the recall program began in September 2022. Take these steps to ensure consumer comfort and satisfaction.
However, Rina ensured that not all Honda PCX 160 and ADV 160 users were asked to bring their vehicles to the AHASS. According to him, only vehicles with a certain chassis number were invited.
“Yes, not all of them. Just a few order numbers (which are called back), and these are all free,” said Rina.
