Team Ninja is working on a so-called “reboot” for the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series. The developer is said to have confirmed this during a lecture by studio head Fumihiko Yasuda.
Was Ruliweb (through VGC extension) who first reported the case. According to the Korean website, Yasuda concluded his speech with images of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, along with the text “Team Ninja’s future – new start for popular series”.
As VGC writes, Yasuda has previously stated that he is interested in breathing new life into Ninja Gaiden. Just a few months ago, the head of Team Ninja said he would like him let other developers try their hand at the seriesbut that in that case it had to be a study suitable for the job.
It has been more than ten years since Ninja Gaiden got its last major feature for now: Ninja Gaiden 3. That received a good reception here at the mill.
As for the Dead or Alive fighting game franchise, it hasn’t been too long since we’ve heard of it. Dead or Alive 6 came out in 2019. In our review wrote Espen Jansen that the game did quite well, even if it failed to stand out in the crowd.
According to Ruliweb, Yasuda said he wants to share information about the developer’s plans in the near future. Koei Tecmo, developer of both Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, has not commented on the matter.
