It has been 3 years since Lille Audrey marketed Libelté, sa brand of belts with no buckle or hole. From the end of January you will be able to find his latest product, Rebelt, on his website. Always with the same system, this new belt will have something extra: it is made without any animal material, its leather will be replaced by the “skin” of apple.
Remember, we already told you about it in 2019. Audrey, a former nurse from Lille who was embarking on a buckle-free, elastic and adjustable belt project Made in France. She imagines that she has succeeded in her bet of hers. And to continue her momentum, she has added Jef to her team to support him, new co-manager. Together they offer a new collection of belts.
And for “answer customer question” who decided to create ReBelt, explains Jef. A vegan line, made of apple “skin” and recycled fabric (old jeans). Its output is “less impactful, more environmentally friendly and ecological“.
An alternative to leather
Originally an animal material, leather is gradually being replaced by “Faux leather” which are plants. Audrey and Jef have tested those made of cork, cactus, pinatex (pineapple leaves)… But it is on the one made of apples (from Bolzano in Italy), i.e. theapple peelwhich the duo have their sights set on.
To create this skin you need to recover the waste of apples (mainly peels) that will be processed. This is 30% of the composition. The rest is polyurethane, recyclable material. The result of this chemistry is considered to be strong, flexible, durable and waterproof.
Soon all vegan
You can find ReBelt belts in late January on the site at €54 and in four colors (jeans blue, black, beige, green). This is for the adult size, but there will be some for the kids as well €29.
