Rebellion against the SP leader’s silence – demands Vedum as prime ministerial candidate

“Trygve Slagsvold Vedum is the Center Party’s prime ministerial candidate”.

This is the proposal the delegation meeting in Rogaland Center Party on Monday night decided to submit to the Center Party’s national meeting, which starts on Thursday.

The proposal is now in the hands of the party’s editorial committee, which will consider the proposal on Wednesday. But already now the proposal receives support from several county councils.

Ahead of this weekend’s national meeting, there has been some tension about how the party should handle the fact that they have a very popular party leader, but who has not wanted to answer whether he is a prime ministerial candidate, even after repeated questions from the press.

In a draft statement, the central board of Sp has recommended to the national assembly not to discuss the question of who should be the party’s preferred prime minister. But now several county teams are going out and asking the national assembly to actively declare Vedum as the party’s candidate for the post.

Voting Saturday

– Vedum is a more suitable prime ministerial candidate. He wants to reach wider than both Erna Solberg and Jonas Gahr Støre. He wants to unite both village and town, says county leader Vidar Nedrebø in Rogaland Senterparti to TV 2.

He thinks it is “completely logical” that Vedum is the party’s prime ministerial candidate.

It is Saturday that there will be a debate and vote on who the Center Party will go to the polls to cooperate with, and it is related to this statement at the national meeting that the county team has put forward its proposal to add a sentence.

Support from several

The proposal has already gathered support from several counties.

Geir A. Iversen is the county leader of the Finnmark Center Party, and confirms that their delegation will support such a proposal.

– We will vote for this, says Iversen to TV 2.

He believes Vedum has a clear advantage compared to the Labor Party’s candidate, especially in northern Norway where the Labor Party has dominated as the ruling party.

– People have more confidence in Trygve. He is very honest, and people like him, says Iversen.

The proposal is also gaining support from Vestfold.

– I would suggest to the delegation in Vestfold that we support, yes, says county leader Kathrine Kleveland to TV 2.

These three county leaders have previously expressed their desire to lift Vedum as a prime ministerial candidate in Nations. Now the question is raised to the national assembly.
