Speaking to Variety at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Wilson, 43, revealed that she has been cast in the next James Bond film, and while tight-lipped about specific details, she was quick to point out that she was not in the running for the lead role. .

Wilson explained that the audition took place after she was contacted by the franchise’s producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who recognized Wilson as the host of the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards. Because Rebel had to ask the producers for permission to make some Bond-themed jokes, they all developed a special bond with each other.

Although the Australian comedian and actress has revealed that she auditioned, she has refused to reveal whether the audition was successful. Given how secretive Broccoli and Wilson are with the Bond franchise, it’s unlikely they would have allowed Wilson to discuss whether or not she won the role with the media.

“What was really cool was getting to be cast as Bond,” Wilson told the publication, noting that she was cast as another character in the next film in the franchise, which will get a brand new lease on life after Daniel Craig’s last Bond appearance in 2021. No time to die”.

The next installment of the famous franchise is currently in the script stage. Broccoli and Wilson told Variety last year that finding the new Bond isn’t just about casting. It is a new movie, where something will be changed so much that it will seem completely new. One of the oft-discussed frontrunners for this role is Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
