Zack Snyder has made quite a few blockbusters, some of which were extremely well received, other films less so. What about actually Rebel Moon?
For years the director dreamed of being able to get started on his passion project and now the first part has finally been released. Snyder hopes to be able to turn it into a franchise, but has this part been received well enough to be sure of this?
Mixed reactions
Film critics seem to be in doubt. There are cinephiles who love the film, while others are not convinced. However, they mainly agree on the following points. So it would Rebel Moon look incredibly beautiful and the decors are very impressive.
Film critics do say that the first part focuses somewhat too much on the sequel, so the original cannot really be called a stand-alone story. So it is said that Rebel Moon suffers from a ‘Part One Syndrome’, because it is too preoccupied with the future sequels.
Comparison
The blockbuster is also compared to other well-known films. Snyder’s latest film does not only resemble his own Justice League in terms of action, there are also elements of Gladiator and of course Star Wars.

REBELS, GEAR UP! ??
Zack Snyder’s #RebelMoon – Part One: A Child On Fire delivers & serves a triumphant welcome to a whole new & promising universe while featuring some of my favourite Zack Snyder moments to date. (+ a rivettingly badass, kickass, third act)

#RebelMoon took a while to find its groove, there’s so much to explore and world-build. It excels in action as Snyder knows best and by the end I was on-board. I’m excited for a part 2 and without all the baggage and expectation of the Star Wars series.
