The interesting thing about Rebel is to see how it makes the viewer uncomfortable by dragging the viewer into sympathizing and empathizing with two Belgian brothers who enlist in the Islamic State to fight in Syria through external pressures. The brothers witness the brutality of what is happening on the ground. Their hatred towards the Islamic State is growing, although they continue to fight with them. These two brothers, due to their actions, become antiheroes, provoking in the viewer a mixture of love/hate towards the protagonists.
