Rebeka Sziliczei-Német reached the B final
As for the Hungarian national team, Rebeka Sziliczei-Német advanced from the quarter-finals as runner-up in the women’s 1,500 meters, and then in the third race of the semi-finals, she finished third behind her two Chinese rivals, thus qualifying for the B final, where she finished third and tenth overall. The gold medal went to the Belgian Hanne Desmet. Among the other Hungarian entrants, Maja Somodi was 17th and Laura Diána Végi was 35th. American Kristen Santos-Griswold won the women’s 1000 meters, Zsófia Kónya was 15th, Sára Luca Bácskai was 23rd, and Eszter Tóth was 26th. The relay consisting of Bácskai, Kónya, Somodi, Sziliczei-Német advanced from the quarter-finals to the Dutch in the 3,000 meters as the race winner, then finished third in the semi-finals behind the Republic of Korea and the United States, so they can run in the B final today.
In the men’s 1000 meters, South Korean Park Dzi Won won, among our men Bence Nógrádi finished in 25th place, Dániel Tiborcz 31st, and Márk Csizmadia 37th. In the longest distance, 1500 meters, Hwang De Dzson also achieved Korean success, from the Hungarian national team Balázs Bontovics finished 25th overall, and Péter Jászapáti 34th. Bontovics, Jászapáti, Nógrádi and Tiborcz finished third in the men’s 5000m relay quarter-final race, thus did not make it further, just like the mixed relay consisting of Bácskai, Jászapáti, Kónya and Nógrád with its third place.
Winners will be announced today in the 500 and 1000 meters, and the A and B finals of the women’s and men’s relays will also be held.
