Rebecka Blomqvist Suffers Cruciate Ligament Injury in Wolfsburg’s Match against Turbine Potsdam

It was in the meeting with Turbine Potsdam that the accident happened to Rebecka Blomqvist. The Swedish national team striker was with from the start when Wolfsburg defeated Potsdam in the cup with 2-0. But after just over half an hour, disturbing images were released from the match. The 26-year-old fell to the ground without contact with any opponents, after which she quickly waved to the bench and received medical attention before being led off the field.

Now word comes from Wolfsburg that Blomqvist has suffered a cruciate ligament injury and will therefore be out for a longer period of time. The forward will go to Berlin to see a specialist.

“I pulled my cruciate ligament in my right knee during our cup match yesterday. I feel devastated right now, but I will do everything to come back stronger,” writes Blomqvist on Instagram.

Sports director Ralf Kellerman:

– It is extremely bitter for Rebecka. She was in very good shape after the WC and you could really see that she enjoyed playing. This injury is a loss for us and we hope she recovers quickly. We will support her as best we can, he says.

This also means that Blomqvist will not be available for the upcoming Nations League, where national team captain Peter Gerhardsson will take out the squad on Wednesday.

Before the summer, Blomqvist extended his contract with Wolfsburg until 2025.
