Why your phone may not ring when receiving WhatsApp calls (Indian Express)

There are many reasons why your iPhone might prevent you from notifying you audibly or ringing when you receive incoming WhatsApp calls.

Below are the most important of these reasons, according to what the newspaper reported Indian Express:

Silent mode

Your phone’s ringer switch may be on silent without you even realizing it. The switch on the side of the iPhone controls ring and silent modes. Slide it up to return to audible notifications.

Connected to another device

If your iPhone is linked to wireless headphones, speakers, or even an Apple Watch, incoming call notifications can be forwarded without you even realizing it. For example, WhatsApp call sounds may automatically play through your AirPods instead of your iPhone’s speaker. You can check for a connected Bluetooth device through Control Center by pressing and holding the Bluetooth icon.

Do not disturb mode

Another factor that may affect your iPhone’s ability to ring is turning on DND mode. With DND enabled, your iPhone mutes sounds to prevent disturbances. This not only affects the ability to ring on WhatsApp, but on all other apps as well. You can turn off this mode from Settings and then Do Not Disturb.

Phone noise cancellation

Sometimes WhatsApp calls not ringing can be caused by a faulty phone’s noise cancellation. You can access this feature under your iPhone’s Accessibility settings by opening Settings, then going to Accessibility, then Sound, then Phone Noise Cancellation.
