When a date approaches BirthMany women prefer natural birth, but there are some cases in which the doctor decides to undergo a cesarean section, with the aim of preserving the health of the mother and fetus.

Regarding this, Dr. Ahmed Rashid, a consultant in obstetrics and gynecology at Ain Shams University, presented the most prominent reasons that cause women to undergo a caesarean section, including:

– Lack of signs of normal birth:

The doctor is forced to perform a caesarean section if signs of natural birth do not appear and the cervix is not fully dilated, the fetus assumes the birth position, and the ninth month of pregnancy has passed.

– Eclampsia:

One of the cases that requires a caesarean section is that the condition is exposed to high blood pressure during pregnancy, which affects the adequate blood supply to the placenta, which reduces the percentage of oxygen that reaches the fetus.

– Having diabetes:

A mother with diabetes or who is exposed to temporary gestational diabetes affects the size of the fetus, which increases the difficulty of natural birth. Here, the doctor resorts to a cesarean section.

– Cervical tightness:

The doctor is forced to perform a caesarean section if the cervix is narrow, making it difficult for the fetus’s head to pass through it. In this case, the fetus is exposed to suffocation, and in some cases the fetus’s head is so large that it is difficult for it to exit the uterus.

– Placenta precipitation:

The doctor may resort to a caesarean section if the placenta falls during the last 3 months of pregnancy, causing bleeding and pain in the uterus, which affects the delivery of oxygen to the fetus.

-ICSI:

In the case of pregnancy via ICSI, a cesarean section is required, and the reason for this is to protect the fetus from being exposed to any pressures during natural birth.
