Candidate vice presidential candidate, Ganjar Pranowo, Mahfud MD reveals his reasons for not choosing to join Anies Baswedan nor Prabowo Subianto Of 2024 presidential election.
He explained that there was an image factor in the use of identity politics that made him reject the offer from the Anies camp. According to him, that image has not disappeared much until now.
“This is just a matter of political image, not a matter of right or wrong. For example, if I was with Anies, why did I refuse at that time, maybe the image of using identity politics hasn’t disappeared much, so it’s not easy for me to explain it,” said Mahfud in an exclusive interview which was broadcast on Mata Najwa’s YouTube, Thursday (19/10).
“Maybe it’s not true, but that’s the image that exists in the public,” he added.
Meanwhile, according to Prabowo, he is too senior. Apart from that, Mahfud believes that the team behind Prabowo is not oriented towards people like him.
“Even though I never said yes or no to Pak Prabowo, it feels like if I look at his successful team, his orientation is not towards people like me,” he said.
Mahfud also admitted that he was compatible with Ganjar because he had no emotional or psychological clashes.
The two of them have recently registered as presidential and vice presidential candidates with the KPU.
“I think, Mr. Ganjar and I get along just fine. It means something like this, for example, if Mr. Ganjar becomes president, there is a problem, I work on it, he definitely won’t complain. For example, if Mr. Ganjar is doing something, he asks for help, asks for support, there’s definitely no problem,” he said.
