Indonesian men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto revealed the reasons for losing in the quarter-finals Indonesia Masters 2023.
Fajar/Rian had to accept a dramatic defeat via a rubber game with a score of 21-11, 13-21, 23-25 from Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (27/1). Physics is recognized as an obstacle for Fajar/Rian to compete with the Chinese representatives.
Rian admitted that he had a problem with his shoulder because he had asked to be treated by the medical team. Even though he didn’t feel much pain, he indicated that this part was giving him trouble.
“It feels a little, yes, actually from India [Open] I already feel it, but it’s been treated until now, it’s not that painful, it’s just a little felt,” said Rian.
Fajar also conveyed the same thing. According to the athlete from Bandung, the thigh had problems in the middle of the match. This problem is suspected to be burdensome for efforts to face opponents, considering that Fajar and Rian often compete in rubber games.
“Earlier, my thighs were a little interested. Maybe because we play rubber games every day and it was really tough [pertandingannya]. So the thighs are interested,” said Fajar.
On the one hand, Rian was reluctant to make fatigue the scapegoat for defeat. According to him, all participants in the Indonesia Masters 2023 also have to work hard every day in every match.
“There must be fatigue. But all the players also participated in three tournaments [di Januari 2023] so [kelelahan] not a reason. Opponents at the last points of the defense are not easy to die, we have to really be able to take advantage of the momentum,” said Rian.
