Reasons for Erick Thohir to Appoint a Woman Deputy Director at Bank Mandiri

Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir pointing Alexandra W Askandar as vice president director of PT Bank Independent (Persero) Tbk. Alexandra, who previously was the corporate director, officially filled the position after being appointed at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) which was held today.

Erick said that Alexandra was chosen as deputy chief executive to enlarge the portion of women leaders in BUMN.

“We at the Ministry of BUMN continue to provide opportunities to enlarge the composition of female leaders in BUMN companies. The appointment of Alexandra as Deputy President Director at Bank Mandiri is part of our efforts to continue to increase the percentage of women, up to 15% in senior management at BUMN. , we also appointed Adi Sulityowati as Deputy President Director of BNI, “said Erick in his statement, Wednesday (21/10/2020).

Alexandra W Askandar who replaced the position Hery Gunadi, previously deputy managing director of Bank Mandiri. The woman who was born in 1972 is a graduate of the University of Indonesia and Boston University, United States. Alexandra’s banking career history is as Group Head of Corporate Banking in 2015 and Senior Executive Vice President in 2016 at Bank Mandiri.

In this change of board of directors, Erick also appointed Sigit Prastowo as finance director. Sigit was previously the finance director of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI.

So far, he has been known as a banker who has always held positions in the BNI finance department. Since 2005, graduates of the Masters in Management from Gadjah Mada University have always been engaged in national banking finance.
