Reasons for Axelsen Withdrawing from Indonesia Masters 2023

Jakarta, CNNIndonesia

Viktor Axelsen decided to withdraw from Indonesia Masters 2023 after losing in the final of the 2023 India Open. Here’s why Axelsen withdrew from the 2023 Indonesia Masters.

Several hours after the final match of the India Open 2023, Axelsen stated that he would not participate in the 2023 Indonesia Masters.

Axelsen explained the reason for withdrawing from the 2023 Indonesia Masters on his social media account.

“Hi everyone. Unfortunately I won’t be going to Indonesia next week. I can’t wait to play at Istora in front of the amazing badminton fans as usual, but my body isn’t ready for another week of competition.”

“Hope to see you soon and thank you for your support,” wrote Axelsen.

Thus Axelsen will not defend the title he won last year after defeating Chou Tien Chen in the final round.

The reason for withdrawing from a tournament due to fitness problems is not the only time Axelsen has made this. Last year Axelsen also withdrew from the second round of the Thailand Open after suffering an injury in the Thomas Cup.

Likewise at the 2022 Swiss Open. After defeating Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo in the first round, Axelsen felt his body was not fit and decided not to continue his work in the second round.

Indonesia Masters 2023 is the third tournament to be held in a row this January after the Malaysia Open and India Open.

In the two previous events, Axelsen has always been able to reach the final and win the title at the Malaysia Open, which is the opening act for the 2023 BWF World Tour.
