RealtyHop’s 2023 Report: Most Expensive Zip Codes in the US Revealed

RealtyHop released its fourth annual report on the most expensive zip codes, where its team extracted all the real estate listings announced in the United States so far in 2023, (3.64 million of them), and ranked the properties by zip code. He then broke down the ranking by average price, resulting in a list of the most expensive markets in the country right now.

According to the report:

· For the fourth consecutive year, 94027 in Atherton, California, is the most expensive ZIP code in the United Stateswith an average price of $7,950,000.

· California has 61 of the most expensive ZIP codesthe most of any state, and two more than last year.

· Los Angeles has the highest number of expensive ZIP codes per citywith seven, followed by Newport Beach with six and New York City with five.

· New additions to the top ten most expensive zip codes include 92067 in Rancho Santa FeCA, 92661 in Newport Beach, CA, 94022 in Los Altos Hills, CA and 98039 in Medina, WA.

· Expensive ZIP codes are less expensive this year, likely affected by market uncertainty, where 53 ZIP codes now have a median price of at least $2,500,000, compared to 61 in 2022.

· The average price of the 100 most expensive zip codes is $2,597,500, $152,000 less than last year.

· The most expensive ZIP codes in the country reside in commonly expensive regions, such as upscale neighborhoods California and cities with beachfront properties in Florida and New York.

· In the most expensive zip code in the country, 94027 in Atherton, California, the median price is an astonishing $7,950,000. The second most expensive zip code, 90210, Beverly Hills, California, has luxury properties for a median of $6,290,000. 11962 in Sagaponack, New York, fell one place to third place this year, with an unchanged median price of $5,900,000.
