Realme said about accusations of cheating AnTuTu’s benchmark results

Jakarta

AnTuTu eject Realme GT for three months off its list of top phones for allegedly rigging benchmark results. Realme himself denied the allegations.

In the evidence received detikINET Thursday (18/3/2021), Realme Global CMO Chase Xu said the test results were accurate and Realme was always committed to providing a true experience to users.

“The benchmark score from Realme GT is accurate data below the latest version of AnTuTu Benchmark,” Xu said in his official statement.

He also said that the absence of benchmark testing standards made Realme and AnTuTu’s understanding differ on how to get high benchmark scores.

Because there is no final conclusion yet, Realme feels that the use of the word ‘cheating’ or ‘cheating’ is a misrepresentation. It prefers the term ‘unverified high score’.

“Apart from that, regarding the testing issues that both parties have doubted, we have been communicating positively with AnTuTu until now,” Xu explained.

Previously, through posts on Weibo AnTuTu accused him Realme GT rigged his benchmark results. Before being launched, Realme showed off the Realme GT benchmark results which reached 770,201, much higher than most Snapdragon 888 phones which scored in the range of 710,000 points.

After directly testing the Realme GT, the AnTuTu team found some oddities. To produce a high benchmark score, this phone is said to hold multiple threads that should run on a small CPU core until it can run on a large core.

In addition, Realme GT also modifies the JPG images used by AnTuTu for the UX test. AnTuTu found Realme GT bypasses some JPG decompression processing and instead displays a low-quality image to reduce processing time.

Because of this, AnTuTu decided to remove the Realme GT from its benchmark list for three months. If Realme changes the software on its cellphone to operate normally, the Realme GT will be allowed to enter again. Otherwise, Realme GT will be banned permanently.
