Realme GT5: Unveiling a New GT Series Smartphone with Tremendous Performance

Realme is preparing a new GT series smartphone
Its main benefit is supposed to be tremendous performance
The manufacturer promises 24 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage and the possibility of overclocking the processor

The Realme GT5 smartphone will be unveiled next week. As is customary with Chinese manufacturers, the unveiling of a new device is preceded by a series of trailers that partially reveal the upcoming novelty ahead of time. Realme also does not skimp on similar type of trailers, so we can already partially confirm the equipment of the upcoming phone – some parameters are very interesting.

Realme GT5: processor clock and 24 GB RAM

Even if Realme’s GT series is not typically gaming, the Chinese manufacturer certainly does not skimp on performance and always deploys the currently most powerful mobile chipset and an appropriate portion of operating memory. The upcoming Realme GT5 will not be an exception. Its manufacturer has already confirmed that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset will work in its guts.

Although some manufacturers are deploying a more powerful variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with higher processor and graphics core clocks in their new phones, Realme is likely to reach for the basic version from the end of last year. However, the user will be able to choose the computing power himself – the manufacturer showed off pictures of a special software tool that will allow changing the clocks of individual processor cores, even without the need to root the phone in any way.

Realme is proud that the GT5 model will be the first smartphone in the world to officially allow overclocking of the processor, although according to the published image it seems that it will be more about underclocking. For the main Cortex-X3 core, a frequency range of 2.5-3.2 GHz can be seen, while according to the official specification of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, this core normally runs at a frequency of 3.2 GHz. But it is possible that Realme still has other frequencies hidden up its sleeve that are not visible in the picture.

The manufacturer also confirmed that the chipset will be accompanied by up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. In addition, the X7 image co-processor from Pixelworks will be “packaged” with the chipset, which should take care of improving the quality of recorded video.

The rest of the parameters are only speculated for now. For example, a 6.74″ AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 144 Hz or a 4600mAh battery with support for ultra-fast 240W charging are mentioned. There is also a set of cameras:

50 Mpx main (1/1.4″ Sony IMX9 series sensor) 8 Mpx wide-angle 64 Mpx periscopic (OV64B sensor)

The Realme GT5 smartphone will be launched next week on August 28.
