Realme is not afraid of this, in Russia it launches its flagship as the first in Europe
Realme GT3 went on sale for 69,990 rubles, i.e. about 21 thousand crowns
Realme has officially launched its current flagship model Realme GT3 on the first European market. However, to everyone’s surprise, it is Russia. The smartphone was officially announced on February 9, 2023 in China, then still as GT Neo 5. The manufacturer brought it to Europe for the first time as part of the Mobile World Congress on February 28, but it is only going on sale now.
Realme GT3 finally in Europe
It is surprising that Realme decided to deploy its flagship first in Russia. A significant number of technological giants, whether Apple, Samsung, or others, left the local market last year. The reason for the exodus is a protest against the violent military invasion that Russia undertook on February 24, 2022 on the territory of the sovereign state of Ukraine.
Realme is one of the handful of manufacturers that have remained on the Russian market and have not opposed the invasion in any way. The new Realme GT3 is currently only available there, although the brand also does business in Poland, Spain, Italy, Turkey or the Czech Republic. Just for interest, the newest model on the Czech market is Realme 10, Realme 11 Pro and Pro+ are about to arrive.

We were able to test the GT3 flagship model at the aforementioned MWC fair in Barcelona. The smartphone offers a 6.74″ AMOLED panel with a 144Hz frequency, an octa-core Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a 4600mAh battery with up to 240W charging or a trio of cameras with a 50MP main sensor. There is also an effective glowing rectangle on the back that can change color. In Russia, you can buy it from 69,990 rubles, i.e. about 21,400 CZK including VAT.
Xiaomi or Vivo also remain in Russia
We asked the local Realme representative for a statement on the situation on the Russian market and the availability of the Realme GT3 in the Czech Republic. In addition to Realme, Vivo, Oppo and others hold a strong position on the Russian market. Xiaomi and Huawei also remain, but have announced that they will hold off on new product launches (unlike Realme).
Sanctions against Russia are generally not respected by Chinese companies in particular. Alibaba’s holding company, Chinese banks and the airline Air China also remain. On the other hand, in Russia, paradoxically, even multinational companies that have clearly defined themselves against the invasion remain “half-hearted”. This includes the Accor hotel chain, the pharmaceutical giants AstraZeneca and Bayer, and the clothing company Giorgio Armani. You can find a complete list of companies on the Russian market on the website DontFundWar.
