Realme Folding Screen Launches 2022, Peek at Design Leaks

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Folding screen smartphones with camera technology under the screen are starting to be adopted by a number of brands. The newest to join seems to be realme.

In a post on Weibo, Xu Qi Chase, Realme CMO (China), hinted that the foldable Realme series with an under-display camera will be introduced next year.

While this doesn’t directly say Realme will launch such an offering, the 91Mobiles leak reveals some design sketches of what is supposed to be the “Realme GT 2 Fold”.

As for the under-display camera, Realme has filed a patent with the technology. The patent document features a smartphone with a full screen, which suggests the selfie camera can be embedded below the display.

The device may also be equipped with an in-display fingerprint feature. It’s quite interesting to look forward to what premium features will be embedded in the first foldable smartphone Realme in the future.

As is known, Oppo, which is still under the auspices of BBK Electronics, is known to be working on a flagship smartphone with an external folding screen. So it’s not surprising that Realme is also doing the same thing.

If Oppo and Realme release commercially, then they will join Huawei, Samsung, and Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone. The three brands have previously mass-produced HP with folding screens.
