Realme 9 and Realme 9 SE presented: 5G connectivity, fast displays

After announcing the Realme 9 Pro in February, Realme today announced the Realme 9 and Realme 9 SE, the latter of which is particularly successful and will be an attractive hypothesis for those looking for a good deal, with its Snapdragon 778G and 120Hz display.

Starting then with the Realme 9 SE, the suffix “SE” as a rule points to a more contained device, but Realme has changed our laps here and we are facing a “Speed Edition”, explaining how, with its Snapdragon 778G, the Realme 8 SE is in fact more powerful than the Realme 9 Pro with its Snapdragon 695, which will allow you to have improved performance, both in terms of computing and in terms of graphics performance. Accompanied by 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable UFS 2.2 storage, the Snapdragon 778G also allowed the inclusion of WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, while the Realme 9 5G will have to make do with WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1.

Still with the posture of speed, the Realme 9 SE has a 6.6″ 144Hz display and FHD resolution, in addition to a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It’s not a truly dynamic refresh rate, but there are still six available refresh rates, with the lowest at 30Hz. The front camera is 16MP.

A 5000mAh battery with 30W charging will offer a very acceptable autonomy, and fast recharges in case of need.

So, if the bet is on speed, but this is not a Pro smartphone, some concession would have to exist and we find then a photographic department where the 64MP camera is exchanged for a 48MP one, accompanied by the same macro and depth sensors.

Arriving then at the Realme 9 5G, we find a balanced and more contained smartphone, which mobilizes the MediaTek Dimensity 810 with 4 or 6GB of RAM and 64 or 128GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, the 6.5″ screen remains FHD, but the refresh rate drops to 90Hz and the touch sampling to 180Hz.

The cameras are exactly the same, but due to processor limitations, the Realme 9 5G does not record video at 4K, which is within reach of the SE, while the battery maintains its 5000mAh capacity, but a slower charging of 18W.

In terms of availability and prices, there are no confirmations of international values yet, but at the current conversion rate, the Realme 9 SE will start just below €240, while the Realme 9 5G will be cheaper, with a starting price equivalent to €175 .
