Leon Bailey could not hide his emotion after missing a last-minute opportunity to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers with Aston Villa: he collapsed on the pitch and cried bitterly. After the final whistle, he apologized to the fans via social media.
The last minute of recovery is running out. Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey got a sugar pass from teammate Danny Ings and ran freely towards the opposition goalkeeper, even managing to put him into a corner, but shot wide with his weak right foot.

It ended shortly after and Bailey burst into tears right on the lawn. His teammates immediately ran to him, but he could hardly comfort him. The Jamaican international felt guilty over the loss. So much so that he even apologized to his own fans afterwards. “I’m really sorry Villans,” he wrote on Instagram. “It is really hard to bear and I am very disappointed in myself. Sure it will be very difficult to sleep tonight but I will try to keep my head up. Thanks for the great support tonight.”
His coach Unai Emery tried to take the weight off him and offered words of comfort to Bailey: “I’m happy with him, he cried but it’s nice because he showed his feelings. He took responsibility for scoring a goal and not l ‘He did. He can feel that responsibility. I’m very pleased with his commitment and performance.”

Bailey moved to England from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer of 2021. He is still the most expensive exit from the Werkself after Kai Havertz. In the current season he has scored three goals and two assists.
