Communist activists went to meet the population on Sunday in Bastia to invite them to participate from next month in “forums for reflection and action” on different themes: employment, purchasing power, culture, education, health, public services …
A coffee, canistrelli, cakes … Behind the moment of conviviality, organized by the Communist Party on Sunday in the Place Saint-Nicolas in Bastia, there was an action to raise awareness of the attention of the population.
As an extension of the mobilizations of November 28 and December 5, PCF militants set up, on the edge of the Sunday flea market, this meeting point in order to ask “to all progressives to participate from January 2021 in the organization of forums for reflection and action to truly change ‘the world after’.”
An expression used in reaction to the words of the President of the Republic. “The world after that Emmanuel Macron proposes is not the one where we want to live “, underlines Michel Stefani, regional secretary of the PCF.
These forums are intended “constructive and open” and “could, without exclusions or predefined order, revolve around the following themes: employment, wages, purchasing power, price control and reduction; culture, education, health, public services; social progress, democracy, ecology.”
“The idea is to come together and act to fight the policy led by the government on the social and economic levels and that carried out at the regional level”, continues Michel Stefani. “The government is taking advantage of the crisis to benefit the richest. Its ultraliberal policy breaks everything as we can see with regard to the hospital, access to culture and education … In Corsica, the situation is even more significant, as evidenced by the high cost of living scandal, but public money must be used by those who need it most.
We are in solidarity with the small trader and the craftsman, but we must not also forget the employees, the most modest households, the retirees, the young people who are in a dramatic situation because of the health crisis. We must make those who can afford it pay for the crisis! “
“The unfair sharing
wealth is
a reality in Corsica “
The PC criticizes the fact that according to it, “on the 730 million euros paid by the State in Corsica between March and June 2020”, “the most important part” was given to big companies. It targets “the first fifteen shareholders of CM Holding” and those of Rubis “which ensures the coordination of fuel supplies and has the densest network of stations”. If he shouts haro at the action of the state, he does not spare the Assembly of Corsica, criticizing the unanimous vote of the elected in favor of the plan of safeguard and revitalization “Salvezza e rilanciu”.
Considering that “the unfair sharing of wealth is a reality in Corsica”, he declares that the trade unions “were right not to support this plan” who “provides no democratic control, no compensation to guarantee jobs and wages, no measures against the high cost of living”. The organization of these forums also echoes the hundredth anniversary of the French Communist Party, which “a permis”, recalls Michel Stefani, “obtaining major democratic and social gains. Our constant is the fight for social progress and we are working for the next hundred years, for a better future.”
