It is increasingly common for big stars to partner with Netflix. The slightly lesser-known names, however, are paid very little, at least if Nick Thompson’s story is to be believed. The latter spoke about the streaming giant during a recent interview.
Nick Thompson took part in the reality series Love is blind on Netflix. He played an important role in the second season, which was released in 2021. However, he is absolutely not rich. Indeed, he claims to be very poorly paid.

Thompson now states the following: I was made redundant last November and am struggling to find a new job. I’ve burned almost all of my savings and only have two months left to pay my mortgage….«
« The reason I can’t find a job is because people haven’t taken me seriously since I started working for Netflix. I still worked in the software for five years though, so it’s not like I don’t have experience. However, I can’t find a job anymore.« .

He goes on to say that Netflix only paid him $10,000 for 10 weeks of work: I find this absurd, especially considering what they earn“. According to Thompson, he was making $7.14 an hour.
On top of that, the conditions were also void: “ You film 18 to 20 hours a day. Not everything is shown on TV but from the time you arrive until you leave you have to walk with a mic« .

Thompson felt like he was being held captive: […]At the end of the day, you go home, only to be locked in a hotel room, with no key, no wallet, no ID…”.« .
« The actors were truly held captive. Love is blind ruined my life. I wish I could go back, I would have done it all very differently….«
