Nick, who stars in the second season of the Netflix hit, admits he’s finding it “extremely difficult” to find work after losing his job last November. He has now almost used up all his savings and although he is busy applying for jobs, Nick claims that companies do not take him seriously because of his participation in Love is Blind. “I still have two months in the bank to pay my mortgage.”
According to him, the $ 10,000 he receives for ten weeks of filming from the streaming service to participate in the program is not enough to live on. “If you think about the amount of money that’s being made, and the way this is the path for future seasons, and the fact that anybody can go ahead and watch me… and I’m going to be homeless,” he sums up in the interview.
Nick, who marries Danielle on the series, has been involved with the Unscripted Cast Advocacy Network since filming, which aims to provide legal and mental health support to reality TV contestants.
Earlier this year, several former participants from Love is Blind forward with allegations of assault. In the report, Danielle claims, among other things, that she had a panic attack while filming in Mexico and hid in a closet at the time to avoid producers.
Nick also claims that he was ‘held like a prisoner’ during the filming and says that the cast has to spend 18 to 20 hours a day in front of the camera, but receive less than minimum wage for this. “Then when you go home at the end of the day, you’re locked in your hotel room with no key, no wallet, no money, no identification,” said Nick.
The report also states that season one contestants are forced to sleep in one room with bunk beds during their time in the pods. Other stars recall them suffering from “sleep deprivation” during filming and claim that they have minimal access to food and water during filming.
