Showbiz reality star Maxime Meiland (28) has filed a rape complaint against the man who accuses her of defamation. The unnamed alleged rapist strongly denies that he abused her. Meiland has now gone to the police.
The riot started with Maxime’s biography ‘Maxime Abused, derailed and now… happy’ in which she says, among other things, that she was raped at the age of 15 by a now 28-year-old man, whom she does not mention by name. That man was identified anonymously, but still became furious about the allegation and hired lawyer Peter Schouten to demand a correction and to report defamation and slander.
According to the man, he and Maxime did indeed have sex, but it was consensual and according to him “he is now being abused to boost the sales figures of her book”. Moreover, he claims that the passage can be traced back to him.
Seen at police station
Maxime has not responded in recent weeks, but is now hitting back by reporting rape. Her lawyer Sébas Diekstra confirmed the report after both entered the police station in Katwijk early this afternoon. Maxime Meiland lives in Noordwijk. The report is an important step for Meiland, who also received criticism after her revelation about the rape.
Victim lawyer Sébas Diekstra only wants to confirm that his client was at the police today to file a report, but does not want to comment on the contents. “The man who sees my client as her rapist has recently been obsessively visiting the media and has even had somewhat recognizable photos taken of himself. While he says he is bothered by the attention surrounding the issue and is also afraid of being recognized. This attention-seeking and obsessive public targeting of my client has made her feel compelled to take this courageous step to the police. She feels strengthened by the fact that there is another woman who wants to tell the police about similar experiences with the man.”
Another victim
In the book Maxime mentions that there is at least one woman who fell victim to the man who allegedly raped her. This turns out to be the woman who would now also like to explain herself.
The report comes while a defamation case against Maxime is underway. It was supposed to be heard in the court in The Hague on Friday, January 19, but that was postponed by a month last week. The man accused of rape demands that Meiland’s biography be withdrawn from sale. At the man’s request, that case will take place behind closed doors.

“While my eyes fell on a bush on the side of a ditch, I noticed that guy who just got out of prison was following me. He pulled me further behind that bush, lay on his back and pulled me onto his waist and started kissing me. All I could feel was horror and fear. He took off my top clothes and opened my bra. I had pads in my bra at the time because I was quite insecure about my cup size. I remember feeling a sense of shame because the pads fell out of my bra. Bizarre of course! He laid me down on the grass and raped me. His saliva dripped down my cheek. I remember looking over and seeing the sheep walking in the meadow. I will never forget that image as long as I live.”
