Real-Time Monitoring with 2122 Cameras for Lok Sabha Elections in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul has informed that in connection with the Lok Sabha elections, real-time monitoring is being done using 2122 cameras as part of the preparation of extensive surveillance systems. The footage is constantly monitored in the control rooms set up in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer and in the districts.

All major election-related activities will be monitored live, including footage from state checkposts, vehicle-mounted flying squads and static surveillance teams.

The footage is also being monitored in the control rooms set up under the ROs of 20 Lok Sabha constituencies. 391 cameras have been installed in training centers for election officials. During the nomination period, 187 cameras were installed and monitored in connection with the offices of all the electoral officers.

A real-time monitoring system has been set up in the centers where postal voting facility is provided for the essential service category and officials. Cameras will be installed at polling material distribution centers and booths on polling day for real-time monitoring. Monitoring system will be set up in strong rooms and counting centers in the same way. The Chief Electoral Officer informed that the real-time monitoring systems have been set up as part of the arrangements for conducting elections in a transparent and safe manner.
