Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde tells how he often feels hot at home.
Valverde’s wife is one of the Uruguayan’s worst critics and is often at the forefront of criticism if the performances on the field do not meet expectations.
– My wife, Mina, is on a completely different level. She is very interested in soccer and she is Argentinian. You know how they are and whatever I do is never good enough, Valverde told Players Tribune Football.
Valverde specifically mentions an example where criticism from the wife flowed. After several fine seasons in the Champions League, Real Madrid in 2019 saw themselves eliminated by the successful team Ajax.
After that outing, Mrs. Mina was far from satisfied.
– We got in the car after the game, I was angry and the first thing she said to me was: “Are you serious? What was that? Is this how you want to play for Real Madrid?”
However, Valverde admits that the wife knew what she was talking about.
– The worst thing is that she was right, says Valverde.
25-year-old Valverde is listed for a total of 228 games for Real Madrid, in which the midfielder has accounted for 19 goals and 18 assists.
