Real Madrid become a champion Club World Cup 2022. Madrid won easily over Al Hilal with a score of 5-3 in the final.
The 2022 Club World Cup final between Madrid vs Al Hilal took place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Sunday (12/2/2023) in the morning WIB. Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde each scored a pair of goals for El Real, and one more from Karim Benzema. Meanwhile, Al Hilal’s three goals came from Moussa Marega and Luciano Vietto’s brace.
This is Madrid’s fifth title in this competition. Previously, Los Blancos won it in 2014 and 2016-2018.
Meanwhile, Flamengo won the third place match for the 2022 Club World Cup. The Brazilian club beat Al Ahly 4-2 in a playoff match.
Course of the Match
Madrid started the game fast. Karim Benzema’s collaboration with Federico Valverde ended with a through ball. Vinicius Junior finished with a low strike into the bottom corner of Al Hilal’s net to open the scoring in the eleventh minute.
Only seven minutes later, Madrid managed to increase its lead to 2-0. Luka Modric’s cross from the right wing was anticipated by Al Hilal’s back line, but the ball then fell in Valverde’s path. From the right side of the penalty box, Valverde fired a right-footed volley that successfully penetrated the goal.
Game on! Al Hilal scored a goal to change the score to 2-1 in the 26th minute. Mohammed Kanno found a gap on the right wing of Madrid’s defense and then sent a pass to Marega. The last named player dribbled the ball into the penalty box and then finished with a shot that kept Andriy Lunin from moving.
After halftime, Real Madrid restored their two-goal advantage over Al Hilal. Benzema’s turn to write his name on the scoreboard in the 54th minute. Eduardo Camavinga’s collaboration with Vinicius ended with a beautiful cross from the left wing. Benzema easily finished from in front of goal.
Dani Carvajal’s one-two partnership with Valverde led to Real Madrid’s fourth goal four minutes later. Valverde finished off Carvajal’s low cross with a right-footed strike. Madrid 4, Al Hilal 1.
Al Hilal did not give up without a fight. One other goal was scored by Al Hilal after an hour passed. Saud Abdulhamid cleverly saw a big gap in Madrid’s defense then sent a through ball forward. In a one-on-one situation with Lunin, Vietto took a right-foot shot that was successful at the far post. Al Hilal reduced the score to 2-4.
In the 69th minute, Vinicius Junior scored Real Madrid’s fifth goal to make it 5-2 over Al Hilal. Vinicius stabbed from the left flank, then finished with a short pass from Marco Asensio with a curling right-footed shot into the bottom corner of the goal.
Ten minutes later, Vietto created Al Hilal’s consolation goal. Gustavo Cuellar snatched the ball from Camavinga and then passed it to Michael who was accelerating on the right wing. Michael crossed for Vietto, who tricked Lunin before finding the net from close range. Al Hilal attenuated the score 3-5 from Madrid while marking the final position of the match.
