When it comes to injuries, Real Madrid would have no luck if they didn’t have bad luck. In the past month, three of their players have suffered torn ACLs, with the latest being rising star Joan Martinez – who was set to be a regular member of Carlo Ancelotti first team squad, despite only being 16 years of age.
Cesar Palacios, who was also on Real Madrid’s pre-season tour of the United States, tore his ACL during the AC Milan earlier this month. That follows the case of U19 player Daniel Mesonero, who did similar in July. In total, it’s been six of the same injuries for Los Blancos in a 12-month period – after Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao (last August) and David Alaba (December).
Relief say that Real Madrid cannot understand why these injuries continue to happen. Within Valdebebas, the club’s training complex, they are already wondering what is happening for this type of setback to occur more and more frequently.
It’s a rotten situation for Real Madridand Martinez’s injury could force a venture into the transfer market – especially with Alaba expected to be out until 2025.
