To save money in the midst of a pandemic COVID-19, Real Madrid remove the bonus for the players. Bonus LaLiga and Spanish Super Cup winners respectively.
According to Diario AS, each Real Madrid player will initially get an additional 700 thousand euros as LaLiga champions and 300 thousand euros as champions of the Spanish Super Cup. The elimination of the bonus saved El Real 30 million euros (around Rp. 520 billion).
The nominal itself refers to information from La Cope. Real Madrid’s first team players will actually get an additional 1 million euros each thanks to the success of winning the LaLiga and Spanish Super Cup last season.
However, a pandemic corona virus forcing the club to remove the bonus in order to secure the financial sector. The players Real Madrid also said to have agreed with the cut.
This in itself is not Real Madrid’s first. Previously, during the pandemic, the El Real squad had also agreed with club directors to make a salary cut of 10 percent.
Furthermore, Real Madrid’s salary cuts also apply to high-ranking officials, Castilla players and basketball clubs who have saved the club 50 million euros – plus 30 million euros after bonuses are now removed.
Pay cuts alone are no stranger to Spain at the time of the current pandemic. Atletico Madrid, for example, reportedly cut wages of up to 70 percent.
Savings steps Real Madrid himself also carried out through his transfer activities, among others by releasing high-paying players such as James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale, who are said to be contributing greatly to the club’s financial sector.
