At Real Madrid, the young Brazilian international, Endrick, is the second flagship recruit of the summer after the arrival of Kylian Mbappé.
Revealed at Palmeiras, the 18-year-old player with the impressive physique joined the Madrid club last week after playing in the Copa America with his national team.
In two years at his former club, Endrick has played 82 games and scored 21 goals. His new club Real Madrid has high hopes for him in the coming seasons.
Upon his arrival in Madrid, the young Brazilian international gave an interview to the Spanish media and part of his speech has caused a lot of controversy.
Asked who his football idols are, the young player cited two big names, one of which is controversial.
In addition to mentioning the name of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the Brazilian also called the name of English legend Bobby Charlton.
“My childhood idols? Cristiano Ronaldo and Bobby Charlton”said the former striker of the Palmeiras club in Brazil.
Indeed, Endrick was officially born on June 21, 2006 and is currently 18 years old. However, Bobby Charlton, whose name he also mentioned as one of his idols, ended his career in 1983, 23 years before Endrick came into the world.
Therefore, many observers wonder how Endrick was able to follow Bobby Charlton’s path to the point that the latter became his idol.
The former England international, born in 1937, died less than a year ago in October 2023.
