The course of the match Girona vs Real Madrid
Real Madrid made five substitutions from the last match against Celta Vigo. Andrii Lunin, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Dani Carvajal and Rodrygo all entered.
Madrid immediately kicked off from the start when Rodyrgo in the first minute heeled Modric’s cross in front of goal, but Juanpe was able to block it in front of goal.
After that Girona was able to make Madrid difficult with defensive play and counterattacks. Girona was able to take the lead in the 12th minute through Castellanos.
Castellanos without escort in the penalty box easily kicked the ball from Miguel Gutierrez’s cross and nestled in Lunin’s goal.
Girona, who were even more excited because of the goal, were able to double the score in the 24th minute, again Castellanos was the culprit.
Castellanos received a long ball from his own play and dodged Eder Militao in two moves, before slamming the ball into Lunin’s net.
Madrid, who were left behind, tried to create a goal that materialized in the 34th minute. Vinicius headed Marco Asensio’s cross right in front of the Gazzaniga goal.
The 2-1 score lasted until halftime. A minute after halftime, Girona immediately widened the gap to 3-1 through a Castellanos hat-trick.
Yan Couto stabbed in from the right, then passed Nacho and provided a cross which was met by Castellanos’ first-time shot against Lunin.
Castellanos really became a nightmare for Madrid’s defense, especially Militao. Militao lost in the aerial duel in the 62nd minute and made it easy for Castellanos to head into Madrid’s net to make it 4-1 for the hosts.
Girona, who appeared brilliant, then lowered the gas pedal in the final 20 minutes of the match. Madrid could not maximize the opportunity to immediately cut the gap.
This effort only paid off in the 82nd minute when Lucas Vazquez leaked Vinicius’ cross ball that pushed in from the right side.
Until the fight Girona vs Real Madrid complete, the score 4-2 does not change.
