Real Madrid announced its first new signing for next season. El Real has just recruited a left-back Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano.
Fran Garcia is actually not a new face in Madrid, because he is a graduate of the Valdegratis academy. He played for Madrid B from 2018 to 2020.
He has been playing at Rayo since 2020 on loan before making a permanent move. At that time, Madrid pinned a buy-back clause which could be activated at any time.
Fran Garcia’s rapid development in the last two years has attracted Madrid. Without thinking twice, Madrid immediately redeemed Fran Garcia’s contract as soon as the 2022/2023 season ended.
Fran Garcia was brought back with a tag of 5 million euros and has completed his move as of Monday (12/6/2023) evening WIB. Fran Garcia wears number 20 which was previously worn by Vinicius Junior and is contracted until 2027.
“We want to build the best team. Our strategy is to bring in young players. This is the first. As long as Fran Garcia returns to the house,” said Madrid president Florentino Perez at Football Espana.
Fran Garcia is Madrid’s first signing of the summer who will be joined by Jude Bellingham, having reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund.
While strengthening Rayo, Fran Garcia made 122 appearances in all competitions with a score of five goals and eight assists.
“I am proud to be here and to return home. Thank you very much to the president who made it happen. This is a dream that I have been chasing since I was in Madrid. I am fully dedicated to my career,” said Fran Garcia.
