AS indicates that this competition should be created at the expense of national cups. Thus UEFA would like to remove four or five rounds in the national cups and reduce the number of teams in the national championships to a maximum of 18. EUFA president Aleksander Ceferin is said to be working on the project alongside Real Madrid and Juventus Turin, represented by ECA (The European Club Association). A new UEFA competition was therefore expected to emerge soon.
